EXPRESS WITH PHOTOGRAPHS AT ACTIVERAIN / Scotty's Castle in Death Valley California

Photograph by Robert Swetz - Death Valley California 2-21-2009

This blog is dedicated to Scotty's Castle in Death Valley and Scotty himself.

If you have never been to Scotty's Castle it is a must see and he was a remarkable man.

I am posting this blog in remembrance of Scotty and to the EXPRESS WITH PHOTOGRAPHS AT ACTIVERAIN  group.

I formed this group when I first joined Activerain and it is one of my favorite groups with some great members.

Here are just a few pics from Scotty's Castle in Death Valley and Scotty himself would be excited if he were around to read this post himself. There is a brass sign with some of Scotty's words that he lived by and I found he words to be very interesting.

Let's go Camping & Boating at Lake Mead - Nevada

Photograph by Robert Swetz - Lake Mead - Nevada

If you like camping and boating, Lake Mead - Nevada is a wonderful place to do both. There are so many bays and hidden areas to find privacy and take in the beauty of Lake Mead.

Photograph by Robert Swetz - Lake Mead - Nevada

There are areas like this one above were there are very few people if your looking for some peace and quiet.

Photograph by Robert Swetz - Lake Mead - Nevada

There are flowers like this in the photo above and below growing everywhere.

There are hundreds of areas for campers like the one below where the area is wide open.

The boat in the photo below looks like it is very small, but is 30 feet long with a sleeper below. And when I was down there taking photographs I only say two boats and this was one of them. It was very, very quiet down by the lake and it was a Saturday evening with temps in the lower 80s.

So if you ever come to visit Las Vegas - Nevada make a point to get out to Lake Mead and have a look, it is a very beautiful place to visit and plan on spending a few days because there is so much to see.

God's beauty expressed through the Sun - The wonders of photography

God's beauty expressed through the Sun - The wonders of photography

On my drive back from Valley of Fire driving around the north shore of Lake Mead in the state of Nevada, I came across the sun setting.

Latley with my shooting I have started really looking for that perfect shot to express the view and scene at the time I am viewing it.

This sun set photograph that I took on my drive home turned out better than being there at the time. The color of the sun and the way that it is burning behind the mountains is breath-taking.

I took about 20 photographs of the sun setting and over 10 of them showed up beautiful, what are the chances? I think with age my eye for photography may be getting better, I may have not reached my peak of taking photographs.

Photographs like this really make me (HAPPY)!

My ears are closed to blogs about a slow economy!

My ears are closed to blogs about a slow economy!

Real Estate sales have really picked up in Las Vegas Nevada in the last month and I have spoken with several others across the country and they mentioned sales are up in other states.

Are the numbers like they were 3 years ago? I would have to say no but the country is headed in a positive direction.

I believe that years ago things were doing so well that we believed it would continue forever. It's time to clean house and get rid of any rotten apples, and the strong shall survive.

I am posting this blog because I will not be commenting to any blogs about how terrible our economy is doing. These blogs read like a broken record and a thorn in my side, so if you want any comments from me you know what to do.

I spoke with my brother in the upper Midwest and he mentioned that Real Estate sales are up. He also mentioned that there were many people at the car dealer where he purchased his car, purchasing cars themselves.

Are people purchasing cars like they did 3 years ago? What difference does it made, it's good news to me and I will take any good news over bad news.

Come Monday I would like everyone to go to work with their heads up and think positive only. If there is bad news on the radio or television, turn it off unless you think you can do something about this bad news.

Let's try to mind set ourselves into only positive actions from now on.

Over millions of years mother/ father nature has .............................

Photograph by Robert Swetz - Lake Mead - Nevada

Over the millions of years mother/ father nature has cut into the earth and created these sharp jagged mountain tops. The rain waters, wind and sun have been working for millions of years to form what you see before yours eyes.

I spent the day at Valley of fire in Nevada and then I took the scenic route home around the north shore of Lake Mead. I took just over 200 photographs of flowers, red rocks, lizards, bees, Lake Mead and more.

I will be posting several blogs next week to Localism on Valley of Fire & Lake Mead with pics attached of course.

I wanted to share this breath-taking sunset photograph showing all the lines from many different mountain tops. It is quite amazing.

This was the very last photograph I took at the end of my day, not to bad for the last pic!

Hello my friend from Activerain,

I am sending out several letters with a few of my business cards to some of my favorite friends at the Activerain network.

I would like you to keep these cards that I have sent you and if you ever know anyone that may be headed to Las Vegas for business or pleasure please hand them one of my cards.

Let them know that if they contact me and hand this card back to me I will buy them lunch or dinner.

It's just my way of getting to know more people in this world and showing my gratitude.

Also if you know anyone that may be visiting Las Vegas that would like some photographs taken while they're here, I am here for them.

I would be happy to give them any information that would make their visit to Las Vegas a (Happy) one!

Women hand sewing beautiful Burmese rugs in Burma

Photograph by Robert Swetz - Myanmar (Burma)

I captured these women hand sewing these rugs for a wall decoration or throwing over your bed. As you can see they are all hand done and very beautiful when there finished. The women were very excited when we came by with my camera and were a little shy at first, but got over it real quick.

This photograph was taken in Mandalay Myanmar (Burma) and the rugs sell for about $30.00 American dollars.

Can anyone tell me who this Happy character is at the end of the table? I don't really think she's part of the group!

Here is a photograph below of the rugs when they are finished. I have one hanging on my wall at home and it is very beautiful and people always complement the piece.
